Article 24 - Joint Activities

24-1 The District and the Association recognize their collective responsibility to promote positive change in the Denver Public Schools.  The following committees have been formed to work toward this end:

  • Agreement Review Committee – Articles 7, 8 & 11
  • Task Force on School And District Climate – Article 29 & Appendix A
  • Advisory District Personnel Performance Evaluation Council (1338 Committee) – Article 10
  • Pay for Performance Design Team – Memorandum of Understanding
  • CDM Improvement Council – Article 5
  • Interim Negotiations – Article 6
  • Sick Leave Bank – Article 21
  • Benefits Board – Article 30
  • Tax Sheltered Annuity – Article 31
  • Teacher Education Fund Committee – Article 31
  • National Board Certification work group – Article 31
  • Compensation of Unused Sick Leave and Early Retirement Work Group – Article 31
  • Any additional committees may be formed as needed.

24-1-1   The Superintendent and Association President, with support for the Agreement Review Committee (ARC), will monitor and receive committee reports, and, based on these reports will make recommendations to the Board and to the Association. 

24-1-2   The Agreement Review Committee (ARC) has joint membership of the Association, including the chair of its bargaining team and one other teacher leader, and the District, including members of the Department of Human Resources.  As one step in the implementation of the Framework for Partnership, the Agreement Review Committee will develop a calendar of the joint activities created by or impacting this Agreement, monitor and coordinate progress of these activities, and discuss the progress with the Superintendent and Association President.  Annually, the Agreement Review Committee will make a status report to the Superintendent and Association President.

24-1-3   The District and the Association will establish an Instructional Issues Council to collaborate, advise and review the planning and implementation of its existing and proposed instructional programs including professional development.  The council will be co-chaired by a teacher, appointed by the Association President, and an administrator, appointed by the Superintendent.  The co-chairs will agree annually on the council’s composition.  The council should include teachers, principals and district administrative staff.  The council may also bring additional representatives as needed to assist them with their duties.
