A Message from DCTA President, Kim Ursetta Dear Colleague: On behalf of the 3000 members of the Denver Classroom Teachers Association, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Denver Public Schools community! You have chosen an exciting yet challenging profession in a very demanding school district. DCTA exists to be a support to you as you confront these challenges. Creating a world class learning environment for our students requires a unified education profession. As an active member of the Denver Classroom Teachers Association, you will belong to the voices of your colleagues in creating this environment. We have been representing the interests of Denver Public School teachers for more than forty years, serving as a model for quality public education, and creating partnerships with the greater Denver community. Together, we can close the achievement gaps and increase graduation rates. Our goals can only be reached through quality teaching, smaller class size, safe and orderly learning environments, and adequate resources for all students. We invite you to belong to our Association. Together, we can accomplish anything! Joining DCTA makes you an integral part of a strong union that negotiates not only salaries and professional working conditions, but various educational reform issues as well. Through our strong teacher leadership in every building and powerful voice in the district’s professional development, we are dedicated to improving the achievement of every student and his/her instruction. When you belong to DCTA, you also become a member of the 38,000 dedicated people of the Colorado Education Association, and the 2.8 million members of the National Education Association. Together, WE are a force that can change. It is my pleasure to be released as an elementary teacher to serve you as President of the Denver Classrooms Teachers Association. I invite you to join me in membership in DCTA- YOUR Professional Association! In solidarity, Kim Ursetta, NBCT
