DCTA Legislative Update

DCTA works with the CEA and the NEA on legislative and regulatory issues affecting public education.  Full and part-time lobbyists monitor Congress and the State House.  Volunteers and paid staff also work on behalf of candidates who are pro-public education and in support of ballot issues that affect schools.

DCTA assigns a practicing educator to each of the legislators representing
the Denver County.  The function of the liaison is to convey the Association's
positions on important legislative bills as viewed from the perspective of
a practitioner.  As mentioned above,  DCTA relies on the lobbying efforts of the Colorado Education Association and the National Education Association.
